My CHI original pulls my hair out everytime I use it now. Should I get a turbo???

It also takes a lot longer to straighten my hair now compared to when I first bought it, and it takes longer to get hot. I have used a Corioliss, which was made from SOLID ceramic plates (the CHI original is made of metal plated with ceramic, as stated in the instructions it comes with), but it wasn't as quick as the CHI. I am wondering if the CHI turbo will be better at not pulling out my hair (the Corioliss didn't pull it at all), or if there is another brand that would be better at that, with the same results or better than my original CHI when it was new. BTW, it is only about six months old (with daily use), so think about that before you go out and buy one! I had hoped to wait at least 2 yrs before buying another one, but just six months later it needs to be replaced (but only if I don't want to take at least 30 minutes for my very fine hair, not even mentioning the torture of my hair getting ripped out with each stroke!).

yeah, everyone told me that the CHI would be amazing and what not, so I bought it after all the hype I heard from it, and honestly I wasn't all that impressed and ran into the same problem (and mine was CHI Turbo, so I don't know what that says about the CHI in general)

My solution was Maxi Glide, found it works really well.

And then I got too lazy with straightening (it only took me about 15 mins to straighten with the Maxi Glide, and my hair is insanely thick and curly) so I decided to get it chemically straightening (the Japanese thermal treatment) and was the best thing I've ever done for my hair and my life! =)

It cost a ton of money ($400) but lasts for up to 8 months and now all I have to do is blow dry (with a Sephora T3 Evolution dryer--I highly recommend if you want your hair completely dry in minutes) and then I just leave it. No iron needed, and it's exposed to the heat of the tourmaline hair dryer for about 5 mins every other day. (compared to like...2 hours of drying and then 45 mins of flat ironing) SO worth it.

If I look back and think about what I spent on replacing flat irons....I used to have a few Conairs, then a Solano, then a Sedu, then a Helen of Troy, then a Hot Tools Cermaics, then a CHI turbo, and then a MaxiGlide....they cost way more than the treatment, and the time I save now with doing my hair for the next 8 months, and not have to spend money on a ton of hair products (don't even let me get started with the amount of money I've spent on random stuff) and my hair is silky, smooth, and so much healthier-- worth every dime of that $400

You should look into it!

Turbo is usually a term meaning "faster", and it might hurt you more.

well I use the chi too and it puls my hair out too. Mine is about 1year old and it basically sucks now. Its better than just reg. straightners from the supermarkets but it just dosent get as hott as normal. Im about to trade it in for a new one. Im going to get the turbo. But try not to straighten your hair everyday.Thats so bad for it and then you will have no hair!

I highly recommend the CHI Turbo. I have used many brands and when I used a friends turbo, I bought it immediately! The difference between ceramic coating and solid ceramic is smoother, straighter, and less fried hair. Worth every penny, I have had mine for almost 3 years and it is as good as new. Also if you are not already using it, try the CHI Silk Infusion...Amazing.

I switched from the CHI to the Solia I love the results. I found it on Folica.com

What's the warranty on those things? If it's a six month warranty, then I would expect it would wear out within 6 months of daily use. If it's a one-year warranty, I would contact the company or take it back to where you bought it and explain (assuming you no longer have the reciept). My hairstylist replaces her tools often - they're sadly not made to last for years.

Also check their website or google the exact model you have. There may be a recall. You never know, so many recalls from China these days and it's likely made there.

With fine hair especially, I would stop using it until you get the matter sorted out. It's not worth losing hair over it!!!

My stylist recommended a Hai to me - I love it, have had it a couple years (although I don't use it daily) and it works just as well as the day I bought it.

I wouldn't suggest replacing it with another of the same brand if the one you have wore out so quickly and you're having a bad experience with it. I would for sure switch to another brand entirely, not just an upgraded version of what you own now.
