How can I get really stick straight hair that is smooth?

I have a CHI hair straightener and I use heat protectant but my hair never gets the way I want it to. My hair is wavy and but it gets most curly underneath and I have a hard time straightening underneath. Does anyone else have this problem and are there any products or tips you recommend.

Ahhhhh.....The everlasting quest.

I used to have HORRIBLY curly, think hair. suggest getting it professionally straightend. Like a perm. I did, and I'm SO happy with the results. Afterwards, I used a straightening gel (from AVON) and it got to looking so SMOOOOOOOTH!

Maybe the flat iron is not hot enough. Make sure you use hair conditioner after shampooing to give a bit of weight to your hair. Other wise over time your hair may straighten out with use of the flat iron. But for extreme lasting straight hair you could get a consultation for the YUKI system (permanent straightening) from a professional at a salon.

I recently heard about japanese hair straightening. You have to get it done proffesionally.

Yes. I have very unruly cury hair. If you want to straighten the bottom, try putting your hair in a half-up-half-down (accordingly) it makes it a lot easier. I use Straighten Up spray by John Freida (i think). You can find it at CVS. Good luck! I feel your pain!

the CHI straightener is an awful choice. it damages hair and its hard to operate. use the maxiglide.

( http://www.maxiglide.tv ) that works best for me and i have unruly, unmanegable hair. its leaves my hair silky and shiny.

make sure that you blowdry, and use a leave-in conditioner before you start to flat iron. then, divide the hair in sections, and start with the bottom/back layers. then work your way to the top layers. use hairspray when youre done.

good luck

Try using a straightening lotion with heat protectors. Then blow dry straight with a round brush. After that, your hair should be pretty straight. To smooth it out and give it the very sleek look, then you can finally go over your hair with the iron. Good luck.
