Is lightening your hair color with hydrogen Peroxied safe for your hair?

My neice is using hydrogen-peroxide and a "chi" hair-iron to apply heat and lighten up her hair. Is she damaging her too much or is this no more damaging than going to a salon and doing it?

Yes, she is damaging her hair. If she wants to lighten her hair, she should use a product called "Sun-in" you spray it all in your hair and then you apply heat such as a blow-dryer. Or she could just sit out in the sun. Hydrogen-Peroxide can turn dark hair an orangery color and its chemicals that can harm the scalp. Go with the Sun-In, its safer and cheaper than using the Hydrogen-Peroxide and going to the salon.

yes !!!!!!!!!!tell her to stop .before long her hair will be dried out and full of split ends.yuck!!!

No if your hair is darker than dark blonde that peroxide tends to cause the hair to turn orange, as well as burn it to a frizz. Go to a beauty supple and get some "Sun In"...spray it on, blow dry or go in the sun %26amp; it lightens.

Have her stop the applications immediatly. Her hair will begin breaking soon and there is no quick way to reverse the damage. A credible salon won't lighten it until she's had conditioning treatments to bring it back to a decent health. Ask for deep contitioning treatment. When she goes in be sure to tell the stylist what she's been doing and for how long. She'll be able to evaluate what needs to be done.
