I have thick hair and have been straightening for years and have never had a problem with singing in any straightners i have ever used. Make sure your using a good salon quality product before using any heat on your hair.

I have thin hair and a chi. you just have to use iron guard. my hair is fine and i love my chi.

I think that the ceramic straightners are the best. They do less damage to your hair and heat up really quick...like 15-30 seconds flat. Gold ones fry your hair and the regular silver barrel ones just suck!

I've used the chi, and asked my mom for it for christmas since she has her cosmotalogy licence, and instead she got me the babyliss nano titanium straightener. and I have really thick hard to straighten hair and this one works really well and just glides through my hair leaving it smooth and straight all day! my hair has also been getting less damaged than before. I would recommend it!

BTW: it cost the same or a little less than the chi
